Lego Robotics

CEHS math teacher and robotics coach Evan Thayer joined us this afternoon.  He brought along many large bins of special Legos to teach the kids hands-on basic robotics.  The kids learned about axles, gears, bushings, lift arms and beams. Their assignment was to create a basic robot that could lift up a ball. Our hope is to spark some interest in robotics early in our students education! If your child is interested, there are After-school adventures available through Community Services.

The first grade kicked off our Cape 250 Celebration today with a visit to learn about our famous lighthouse. We had a museum tour, an outdoor learning time, and some time to sketch the lighthouse and write down some facts that we didn't know before.

Guidance with Mrs. G

Puppet Role plays-problem solving
1. Someone takes a crayon from you
2. Someone cuts you in line
3. Someone says they are a faster runner than you
3. Someone hurts you
Small problems can be solved with friendly words and voice
Sometimes may need firm tone of voice
Sometimes you might have to walk away
Sometimes you might need to talk an adult
Small problem=small reaction

Last Karate

Friday was our very last Karate with Shihan Andy.  We brought thank you notes for Andy.  We are so sad that our karate lessons are over.  It felt like the best week of our whole school year!  If your child wants to pursue further Karate lessons with Shihan Andy at Dragon Fire Martial Arts, Andy has offered all of our children a free week of lessons at the dojo. Please contact me or the studio for more info!  Some lessons Andy taught us:
Self control
Working hard
