Choice time Friday afternoon. Yay!

Non-fiction writing

We are busy learning how to write "All About" books.  Each child chooses a topic to write about that they feel they are an expert in.  For example, they may write about gymnastics, ice cream, Sharks or skunks! You may remember that the kids wrote some of these kinds of books in kindergarten; now we are kickin' it up a knotch to write even more detailed, fact-filled information books.  Writing non-fiction is a significant strand in the Common Core State Standards.

The Three Little Pigs SEQUEL!

The Three Little Pigs play

Elections today!

Pond Cove School's winner:  Mike Michaud!

Cute story today---At Morning Meeting, we went around the circle to give kids a chance to share who they wanted to vote for this afternoon.  The kids could also keep their vote private if they wish.  After discussing the Gubernatorial candidates, one child stated that he was going to vote for "Eric Carle."

Goldilocks and the Three Bears

This was a twist on the original play; our play had two dads and a baby bear rather than the traditional father bear, mother bear and baby bear. :)
